8.1 Show Lower Deck

For the Employee menu to be visible, the Edit Employee dialog or the New Employee dialog must be open. Select Employee from the Payroll menu to call up the Employee window. Select New from the File menu or type in the keyboad command equivalent, <cmd-N>, to call up the New Employee dialog. Alternately, double-click on an employee information line in the Employee window to call up the Edit Employee dialog.

The purpose of the selection at the top of the Employee menu is to change the information displayed in the lower deck of the Edit Employee dialog or the New Employee dialog. The type of information displayed depends on the actual name of the menu selection, which varies as shown:

If you select the Show command when the menu item reads Show Paycodes then the Paycodes lower deck in the Edit Employee dialog or New Employee dialog will be displayed. If, rather, you select it when the menu item reads Show Transactions, then the History lower deck will be displayed in its stead. See section 4.5 Employees for more information on these windows.
